HealthSherpa is an essential tool for agents looking to provide their clients with quick and easy access to ACA (Affordable Care Act) health insurance plans. 1. What is HealthSherpa?

  • Visit the HealthSherpa Website: Go to HealthSherpa to begin the registration process.

  • Sign Up as an Agent: Click the "Sign Up" button and enter your agent details, including your National Producer Number (NPN), contact information, and any required credentials.

  • Complete Your Profile: Once your account is created, complete your profile by filling in up-to-date business and personal information. Make sure your licensing information is accurate.

  • Connect Your Carrier Appointments: To access ACA plans from specific carriers, link your account to the carriers you're appointed with. This step will ensure you can view and quote their plans for your clients.

  • Verify Your Identity: Follow the identity verification process if prompted. This step may involve answering a few security questions to prove your identity.

2. Setting Up Your HealthSherpa Account

Once your account is set up, you'll be taken to the HealthSherpa dashboard. Here’s how to use the key features:

  • Client Management: The dashboard allows you to add, view, and manage your client list. Simply click on "Clients" to see a summary of all the clients you’re helping.

  • Quote and Compare: Under the "Quote" section, input your client’s basic details (e.g., zip code, household size, income) to generate quotes. From there, you can compare available ACA plans side-by-side to find the best options for your client.

  • Enrollment Tracking: Click on the "Enrollments" tab to track your clients' applications and enrollment statuses. You can see which clients are enrolled, pending, or need further action.

  • Reports: Access performance reports under the "Reports" section. These reports help you track your activities, such as the number of enrollments, plan selections, and other key metrics.

3. Navigating the HealthSherpa Dashboard

Now that your account is set up, you're ready to start quoting and enrolling clients:

  1. Enter Client Information: Start by inputting your client’s information, including zip code, income, household size, and other details relevant to their health insurance needs.

  2. Generate Quotes: HealthSherpa will generate a list of ACA plans that meet the criteria you've entered. You’ll see options from multiple carriers, along with plan details such as premium amounts, coverage levels, and deductibles.

  3. Compare Plans: Use the comparison tools to narrow down the options based on factors like cost, network, and coverage. HealthSherpa allows you to compare multiple plans side-by-side.

  4. Enroll in a Plan: After selecting the best plan for your client, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the enrollment process. You can do this entirely within HealthSherpa, making it a quick and seamless experience.

  5. Track Enrollment Status: Once the enrollment is submitted, you can monitor its progress under the "Enrollments" tab. HealthSherpa will notify you of any updates or required actions.
