FFM Certification Instructions

Agents selling through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace need to complete an annual certification to be eligible to sell each year. This certification is known as the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) certification. The FFM training is more straightforward than AHIP, and it's also free. 

Getting Started

Click the button to access the CMS Enterprise Portal. For returning users, log in with your credentials you've already created. For new users, sign up. 

​Find the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM)/Request for MLMS Training Access option under the Choose Your Application drop-down menu, once finished follow the instructions provided until a confirmation email is received. That will ensure your account was successfully created. 

Verify Your Identity & Complete Your Profile

Once you request access to the Agent Broker Training, you'll be given instructions on how to verify your identity. Once confirmed, you can log back into the CMS Enterprise Portal and go to the Marketplace Training - Agent Broker. You will be able to find the MLMS Training link that will allow you to complete all applicable information to finish your profile. You will select the role of Only an Individual Marketplace Agent Broker!

There are other option that you can choose from such as Only a SHOP Marketplace Agent Broker, Both an Individual and SHOP Marketplace Agent Broker, and Not an Agent Broker.

Once your profile is complete, navigate back to the CMS Enterprise Portal, go to Marketplace Training - Agent Broker and select MLMS Training where you will be able to enroll and complete the training that you chose. 

What Will I See in the MLMS Training?

There are going to be multiple training modules that you are required to complete before taking four exams such as ACA Basics and Eligibility for/Enrolling in a QHP (Qualified Health Plan). ​

What Do I Do After Passing My Exams?

After passing your exams with a 70% or higher, you will need to review some agreements and once accepted, you'll be redirected back to the CMS Enterprise Portal, where you will be able to see your completion certificate. Those certificates can be printed out if you wish to do so. On the certificate it will show your name, NPN(s), the market segments, the plan year, and the date in which you completed your FFM Registration. 

You will need to confirm your certification by finding your information on the Agent and Broker FFM Registration Completion List (RCL)

It may take up to one to two days for your correct information to be uploaded and displayed into the database.
